Toothache

Toothache is a very painful ,annoying condition and, in certain cases, may even cause sleepless nights and may be detrimental to the quality of life.Toothache can have a variety of causes. While Tooth decay often is cited as the primary cause of a toothache, other dental causes of a toothache include: infection, gum disease, grinding teeth (bruxism), tooth trauma and an abnormal bite etc. Tooth eruption may be the cause of tooth or jaw pain in babies and school-age children.

. This starts at around six months of age and can continue as the adult teeth start to come through.

• Tooth decay is a serious disease that causes degeneration of the hard tissues of the tooth or the enamel and dentin.that can lead to cavities or holes in the tooth.
• Trauma leading to a fracture (crack) in the tooth, which is often so small that it cannot be seen with the naked eye
• Bruxism is a condition in which you grind, gnash or clench your teeth.

  If it is severe enough it can lead to jaw disorders, headaches, damaged teeth and other problems

• A Dental Filling that has become loose or fractured.The crack will expose the inside of the tooth the dentine that has very small fluid filled tubuleses that lead to the nerves in the pulp. Flexing of the tooth opens the crack and causes movement of the fluid within the tubules. When you let the biting pressure off the crack closes and the fluid pressure simulates the nerve and causes pain.

• A Dental abscess in the gum is a collection of pus caused by a bacterial infection inside the tooth. A tooth abscess usually occurs as a result of an untreated dental cavity, or a crack or chip in your tooth that allows bacteria into the inner tooth..
• Sensitivity due to receding gums leaves the root of the tooth exposed
• Gingivitis is a very common and mild form of gum (periodontal) disease that causes irritation, redness and swelling (inflammation) of your gums. Because gingivitis can be very mild, you may not be aware that you have the condition. But it’s important to take gingivitis seriously and treat it promptly. Gingivitis can lead to much more serious gum disease (periodontitis) and eventual tooth loss.The most common cause of gingivitis is poor oral hygiene. Good oral health habits, such as regular professional checkups and daily brushing and flossing, can help prevent gingivitis.
• Pulpitis is an inflammatory process of dental pulp, the innermost part of the tooth. The patient develops an acute toothache with sharp and throbbing pain, often worse wth recumbent position caused by fluid and gaseous pressure within a closed space. Heat increases the volume and hence the pain, while cold reduces it.
